Skincare 101

We all freak out when we see that little tiny but deadly dot on our faces that we could have sworn came from hell and the only thing on my mind when I see one is “Get it out! Get it out! Get it out!”

This post is to guide on how to ‘Get it out’ without harming your skin and how to prevent them from ever rearing their ugly heads.

a) When it comes to whiteheads, it isn’t adviceable to use harsh chemical skin products to get rid of them. You could also treat this as you would treats a  regular pimple but with less aggravation.

b) Pustules are your occasional pimples that irritate you to no end.

It is vital that you don’t try to open one when you haven’t seen a white head. This will only result to scarring.

-When removing a pimple make sure you also have a tissue in hand.

-You are to enclose this tissue around your fingers when trying to get it out.

-Do not forcefully try to get it out. Be gentle.

-Most people think that if you don’t use a tissue and it’s contents get on other parts of your skin it’ll result to another pimple on that spot. This is true. No matter how fast it is you want the pimple out get yourself a tissue.

c) Blackheads are oxidixed melanin pigments on your skin. It is usually caused by high humidity, heavy sweating, poor hygeine, poor cosmetic and cleansing products.

Using chemical products make them worse most times which is why skin exfoliation is the most common and efficient way to get rid of them.

Prevention:

-Exfoliation: This involves the removal of dead skin cells on the skin’s surface. It opens up your pores too. The human body produces skin cells everyday and each day they wear out and die due to activities and stress. Gentle products should be used.

There are different exfoliation products that could be found in pharmacies or in body care section of stores. If you have sensitive skin some of these products may be considered harsh. I recommend using: Anti-blemish pore refining scrub, Burt’s Bees. It is affordable.

– Exfoliating regularly doesn’t completely mean that your acne disappears. This is why the use of pore cleansing facials is also supported.

-Limit your use of facial oils: Some of these oils are heavy and pore-clogging. An example is Petrolatum popularly known as Petroleum Jelly.

Mineral oils could also clog your pores. Most products that contain sulphates, alcohol and fragrances often irritate one’s skin and can lead to breakouts.

– It is important to keep your skin hydrated. Drink enough water and use good products. For oily skin you can use: Oil free moisturiser, Neutrogena

It hydrates your skin without leaving a greasy look on the surface.

We don’t promise that after doing all these your skin will be completely clear and clean because not even we can guarantee such a thing but after all these your skin should be noticeable cleaner and fresher.

The next post will be related to how you can make your own facial scrubs and I might even throw in a few exfoliation tips. See you next Thursday 😊
